Blue Ridge Fuzz

The Blue Ridge Mountains began forming around 400 million years ago. Give or take. 80 million years later plate tectonics caused Europe and North America to collide, pushing the mountains up to great heights. For a while they were one of the tallest mountain ranges in the world, rivaling the Alps. Time and erosion have since ground them down, with Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina now being the highest peak at 6,684 feet above sea level.

What does any of this have to do with the Blue Ridge Fuzz? Not too much actually. However, for a time, all analog hand wired circuitry was the highest peak, the pinnacle of human achievement for guitar effects pedals. Time and erosion came in the form of logic gates and integrated circuits. Digital circuitry became the Alps, largely overshadowing the achievements of the lowly discreet component circuit. But just as the Blue Ridge Mountains are still a beautiful and majestic mountain range, analog circuits can still create some monster fuzz tones. Enter the Blue Ridge Fuzz.

This single knob, ultra-high gain silicon transistor fuzz circuit provides Earth moving gain and peak forming sustain. The BRF responds exceptionally well to the volume knob on your guitar. Roll it back for clean-but-kinda-gritty Jimi tones or crank it up for mind bending fuzz and dirt. Need even more gain? Twist that chicken head! But be prepared, the BRF can unleash enough gain to drive a tube amp to distortion or an upstairs neighbor to tears.

Painstakingly handmade, one at a time, at a cabin in the woods.

Features:

  • All hand wired circuitry made from top quality components.

  • Hand painted original artwork on a 1590b enclosure. Each one is unique.

  • While the Blue Ridge Mountains get their characteristic blue tint from the isoprene released by the trees, the Blue Ridge Fuzz gets its glow from a blue LED.

  • Standard 2.1 mm 9-volt negative tip jack. AC adapter not included. No battery strap, be kind to the Earth :-)

  • It’s not perfect, it’s handmade. Minor surface blemishes may be present. Does not in any way affect the monster fuzz tone.

Sexy DC jack

Plug it into your board.

Bass also sounds cool through the BRF. Bet an oboe would sound good through it, too.

Green Chile Fuzz

It’s a fuzz pedal in a chile can! Super high-gain one-knob transistor fuzz circuit, housed in a 4-ounce chile can. Input and output jacks and dc jack around back. This fuzz cleans up nicely with the volume knob on your guitar, or crank it all the way for a thick wall of distortion. The circuit uses a red LED for a clipping diode, so its voice is a loud, full-throated roar.

Features:

  • All hand wired circuitry made from top quality components.

  • 4 ounce chile can enclosure

  • Standard 2.1 mm 9-volt negative tip jack. AC adapter not included. No battery strap, be kind to the Earth :-)

  • Perfect gift for the guitar player on your list!

Green Chile Fuzz Deluxe

Just like the Green Chile Fuzz but with a green LED indicator and wired for true bypass. Super high-gain one knob transistor fuzz circuit, housed in a 4-ounce chile can. Input and output jacks, on/off switch, and dc jack around back. This fuzz cleans up nicely with the volume knob on your guitar or crank it all the way for a thick wall of distortion. The circuit uses a red LED for a clipping diode, so its voice is a loud, full-throated roar.

Features:

  • All hand wired circuitry made from top quality components.

  • 4 ounce chile can enclosure

  • Green LED indicator

  • True Bypass!

  • Standard 2.1 mm 9-volt negative tip jack. AC adapter not included. No battery strap, be kind to the Earth :-)

  • Perfect gift for the guitar player on your list!

Tone Tweaker

The Tone Tweaker is based on the Electro Harmonix Muff Fuzz. The original EHX Muff Fuzz came in a small metal box with a sliding on/off switch and a volume knob, and it produced a gritty, natural sounding overdrive. The Tone Tweaker retains this airy overdrive sound while reinterpreting the setup for the modern player. In addition to a true bypass stomp switch and blue LED indicator, the Tweaker also adds tone and gain knobs plus toggle switches for clipping diode selection (2 silicon 914s or 2 red LEDs), different output capacitors, and a transistor swap. The tone circuit is highly responsive and helps to thicken up a single coil or remove the mud from a dark humbucker. The Tweaker responds well to the volume knob on your guitar too, so you might find yourself leaving it on all the time.

All of this adds up to a wealth of dirty tones that can be shaped and sculpted to fit your rig, from light transparent overdrive to thick dense fuzz. Great for live performance or recording. Use the many knobs and switches to craft subtly different tones perfect for doubling and beefing up parts. Try using it to drive a tube amp to distortion or put it in front of your favorite dirt box for heavily saturated mayhem.

Features:

  • All hand wired circuitry made from top quality components

  • Unfinished 125B enclosure

  • Lots of knobs and switches

  • Blue LED

  • Standard 2.1 mm 9-volt center negative jack. AC adapter not included. No battery strap, be kind to the Earth :-)

Tomato Sauce Overdrive

It’s an overdrive pedal in a tomato sauce can. This circuit delivers an overdriven tweed amp sound, organic and gritty. Similar to the Lovepedal Woodrow/Tchulu/Cot 50, as well as the 70s Electra circuit. This drive is pretty transparent and will let your guitar’s own personality shine through. Check out the demo video recorded with a 1968 Strat on the bridge pickup. Cleans up nicely with the volume pedal on your guitar. This is a set it and forget always-on kind of pedal!

Volume knob is on the side, leaving the top clear for stacking. Running the Tomato Sauce Overdrive in Series with the Green Chile Fuzz gives you a monstrously compressed distortion similar to a Big Muff. Stack them for more doom!

Features:

  • All hand wired circuitry made from top quality components.

  • 7.75 ounce tomato sauce can enclosure

  • Gritty!

  • Standard 2.1 mm 9-volt negative tip jack. AC adapter not included. No battery strap, be kind to the Earth :-)

  • Perfect gift for the guitar player on your list!
